The Passover Project is a Jewish Light “Friend raiser”

The event is designed to be a "friend raiser" and a, "decidedly grown-up," experience. It showcases a diverse array of local talent while offering a new way to engage with the story of Passover.

A friend-raiser is a targeted, informal event designed to raise awareness and cultivate new supporters. The goal is to build relationships, introduce the St. Louis Jewish Light’s mission to new networks, and identify future volunteers or donors in a low-pressure setting.

How it Began

St. Louis Jewish Light Editor-in-Chief Ellen Futterman

In early 2024, St. Louis Jewish Light Editor-in-Chief Ellen Futterman enlisted Brothers Lazaroff to help produce a music-filled alternative seder. Rooted in a few examples from other creative communities around the country, Ellen wanted to create an experiential Passover seder that both brought the community together and highlighted some of St. Louis' abundant talent. Attendees will enjoy a family-friendly, but decidedly grown-up seder, with music, poetry, grooves, and some hidden mystical teachings connected throughout.

Some non-kosher seder dishes fashioned by City Winery’s culinary team will be featured for purchase, along with the traditional four glasses of wine offered as a special wine flight (or glasses may be purchased separately).
