The Road to St. Louis

Jason and Natasha started Artemas Quibble in 2012 in New York City. Theyt began by designing, developing, and handcrafting belts for some of fashion’s most iconic houses — including Donna Karan (an 18-season collaboration for Donna Karan Collection), Calvin Klein, Tory Burch, St. John, Rick Owens, and Helmut Lang.

Their collections were carried by a handful of select boutiques across the country — ABC Home in New York, Desert Son in Santa Fe, Urban Zen, Habits in Jackson Hole, and Garde in Los Angeles, among others.

After relocating to St. Louis in 2020, they reimagined Artemas Quibble as a direct-to-consumer brand, selling through our website and intimate trunk shows like the one Susan and David Sherman so graciously hosted at their home on October 8th.

Every piece is made by hand in their Webster Groves atelier. They source their leather exclusively from Hermann Oak Leather, which has been in St. Louis since 1881.  Their signature hardware begins as sculpted originals drawn from our decades-old archive of antique brass — ranging from horse tack to scientific instruments. Jason reworks each piece by hand, forging designs that feel both ancient in spirit and modern in form.

Each buckle is cast to fine-jewelry standards in New York’s Diamond District by one of the country's most renowned foundries, then returned to us for hand-finishing, polishing, and pairing with our hand-dyed straps. Every belt is cut to order — clients select their preferred buckle design, metal finish (yellow brass, white brass, or sterling silver), strap color, and exact fit.

Celebrities and Cultural Figures Wearing Artemas Quibble

Their pieces have been worn by a wide range of cultural figures, including Travis Kelce, Daniel Craig, Adele, Keanu Reeves, Jacob Elordi, Bad Bunny, Gisele Bündchen, Austin Butler, Steven Yeun, Chris Hemsworth, Kate Moss, Ben Affleck, America Ferrera, Lil Nas X, The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, Karlie Kloss, Doechii, Adriana Lima, Walton Goggins, Cardi B, Swae Lee, and Will Ferrell. Private clients have included Brad Pitt, Trudie Styler, and Charlotte Tilbury.

About the Saint Louis Fashion Fund

Saint Louis Fashion Fund (SLFF) was co-founded in 2014 by Susan Sherman, Tania Beasley-Jolly, Sharon Tucci, Elizabeth Tucker and a dedicated board, who envisioned an organization that would support emerging designers and promote fashion education and outreach in Saint Louis City, thereby revitalizing its Garment District and growing St. Louis’ impact on the fashion industry. SLFF serves as a fashion retail and education hub for the local design community as well as a catalyst for attracting full-scale garment manufacturing and production to downtown St. Louis.

In January 2017, SLFF launched a class of six emerging designer businesses and began programming for the community, students, and local designers. The inaugural designers have completed the two-year intensive business and fashion education program and are looking forward to exciting new ventures in the coming year both inside and beyond St. Louis.

Building on that success, SLFF revised and broadened its mission and developed new programming for 2019 that reflects its next stage of growth and service to the local design and creative communities. Saint Louis Fashion Fund is the leading voice and advocate for the fashion industry in St. Louis. Its mission is to support emerging brands and industry-related businesses to help promote job creation and economic growth for the region. This will be accomplished by: The Fund's active mentorship of local creatives; Partnerships with key funding organizations such as Arch Grants to boost fashion entrepreneurship/scholarships for aspiring fashion designers; Continuation of the Fund's "Speaking of Fashion Speaker Series" spotlighting global fashion icons who in turn share the vibrancy of the St. Louis fashion ecosystem into the national conversation; Ongoing focus of the Fund's original dedication to bringing the business of fashion back to St. Louis and regaining its status as a fashion.
