Hearth & Soul in Ladue, MO.

Hearth & Soul St. Louis CEO and Founder Susie Busch-Transou will unveil her fourth annual window on Monday, November 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm. Entitled Peace on Earth, the window is inspired by the universally embraced sentiment during the holidays - symbolizing unity, goodwill, reflection and hope. It reminds us to pause, reflect and experience the season’s deeper meaning.

The store's front window will be completely transformed in partnership with Maura Pausteri into an experience that brings calm and peace to our community. “Peace on Earth” is a lifesize advent calendar featuring an indoor-outdoor floral pergola with 25 hanging bird cages holding daily advent surprises. The centerpiece of the design is a large-scale Peace Sign adorned with florals from David J. Bovier of Ken Miesner's Flower Shoppe. Carolers from the Kingsbury Place Singers will provide entertainment. The window reveal is inspired by the time-honored tradition of New York City retailers creating elaborate scenes in their storefronts.

Area residents and visitors have come to love and anticipate the reveal every November. Each day in December, the holiday window’s Advent Calendar counts down to Christmas with daily giveaways, valued between $50 and $500 representing a variety of unique products available at Hearth & Soul.

As part of its ongoing Nonprofit Partner Program, Hearth & Soul is honored to partner with The Saint Louis Fashion Fund as their December Non Profit Partner. Throughout the month of December, 100% of the net profits from the sale of their featured candle of the month will be donated to The Saint Louis Fashion Fund. Hearth & Soul is honored to highlight the Fund’s mission to serve as a fashion retail and education hub for the local design community and a catalyst to attract full- scale garment manufacturing to downtown St. Louis.

Since the store's opening in 2022, Hearth and Soul has continued the tradition of turning their storefront into a dazzling holiday scene. Designs have included “Winter Wonderland”, with beautiful white birch trees & “Believe”, which featured a store-sized scene from the classic holiday film, Elf.

“Peace on Earth” offers all of us the reminder of the importance of supporting each other, working together to help bring positivity and inspiration during difficult times, and being grateful each and every day,” said Founder and Owner, Susie Busch-Transou.

Thanksgiving

Growing up in St. Louis, Thanksgiving Day at the farm was one of my favorite traditions when my Aunt Liz and her family traveled to town, and Dad hosted an afternoon duck hunt.

The hunt was always followed by cold beers in front of the fire and a very large traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The table was set with beautiful linens and all of the finishing touches, including place cards and party favors. I learned how all the little things can truly complete a tablescape, including fresh flowers, the formal gravy boat and butter dish, salt and pepper shakers collected over the years, and the large platter and gorgeous cutlery to showcase the turkey carving table side. My favorite part was always and still is the toast that each member of the family gave about what they are most thankful for. — Susie Busch-Transou

Christmas

Christmas tradition also involved a big family meal and still does today, but often Christmas is celebrated with a late brunch after all families have enjoyed Christmas morning in their own homes. The most important tradition of Christmas is the community giving that takes place. When I was young, we would go to the senior center and bring gifts for all of the seniors in St. Peters, Missouri. The tradition of giving is something that we try and practice year-round, but it is especially important during the holidays. Susie Busch-Transou

Hearth & Soul Holiday Traditions

Over the years, my holidays involve ongoing traditions, one being our holiday advent calendar Window at Hearth and Soul, and the second being hosting the Hearth and Soul teams for holiday dinners to thank them for all of their hard work and service to others throughout the year. These are two of my favorite new traditions each year. — Susie Busch-Transou

About Hearth and Soul

Hearth and Soul, a lifestyle experience store, was created in 2015 with its concept store in Tallahassee, Florida, its second location in St. Louis, Missouri in 2019, and a third location coming late Fall 2025 to Atlantic Beach, Fl. A vision of Susie Busch Transou, the store’s concept was born out of the desire to create a gathering place reminiscent of the home where friends can connect, discover and acquire unique and interesting things – including top brands and local artisan goods. With ongoing experiences designed to connect the community and provide welcome breaks in an otherwise hectic world, Hearth & Soul is “more than a store.”
