The 3rd Annual Groovy Do Hairspray at The Muny
More than 150 donors embraced the spirit of the 1960s before the June 18 performance of Hairspray at The Muny, gathering at the Broadhurst Pavilion for the third annual Groovy Do fundraiser. The lively evening raised more than $95,000 to expand the nation's oldest and largest outdoor musical theater's accessibility initiatives, ensuring that audiences of all abilities can experience the magic of live performance.
Chaired by Cheree Berry, Ashley Kemper, and Brooke Ray, the festive event supports The Muny's longstanding commitment to inclusion through its renowned Free Seats program, which offers nearly 1,500 complimentary tickets for every performance, as well as a wide range of accessibility services including wheelchair assistance, American Sign Language interpretation, assistive listening devices, audio description, and closed captioning. By helping remove financial and physical barriers to attendance, Groovy Do ensures that theater continues to inspire, entertain, and uplift everyone. The evening proved that generosity and community spirit can create standing ovations long before the curtain rises.
