Soldiers Memorial Remembers 250 Years of Fallen Service Members This Memorial Day
“On this 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence, we invite the community to come together in remembrance of those who lost their lives while serving our country,” said Mark Sundlov, Managing Director of Soldiers Memorial Military Museum.
Soldiers Memorial Military Museum will hold its annual Memorial Day Observance on Monday, May 25 at 10:00 AM. This event is free and open to the public. This powerful event honors the memory of America’s fallen service members and includes a wreath-laying ceremony and musical tribute.
There will be various musical selections performed, including the National Anthem, “God Bless America,” and more. At the wreath-laying ceremony, yellow carnations will be available for visitors to place at the memorial sites.
“After gathering at Soldiers Memorial to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation, we encourage everyone to reflect on the freedoms their sacrifice helped preserve and to spend the rest of the day with friends and family in gratitude.”
During Memorial Day, guests can visit the newest banner show — “Declaration 1776: The Big Bang of Modern Democracy.” The banner show is a special exhibition to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.

About the Missouri Historical Society
The Missouri Historical Society (MHS) has been part of the St. Louis community since 1866, helping people connect to the city’s past to better understand its present and future. We believe St. Louis is one of the most fascinating places in America — and that the more people know about its stories, the more connected and invested they’ll be. MHS shares the story of St. Louis in bold, new ways through its three sites: the Missouri History Museum, the Library & Research Center, and Soldiers Memorial Military Museum. We serve as a confluence of historical perspectives and contemporary conversations, working to reach more people than ever before. MHS is supported by St. Louis City and County taxpayers through the Metropolitan Zoological Park and Museum District (ZMD) and by generous private donations.
