Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Collected for Annual OxFest Music Festival for Local Charities

Since 2017, OxFest has donated more than $322,000 to local charities that help and support children. Providing scholarships for local high school students; grants for teachers to improve their classrooms; and helping impoverished rural families with children receive the healthcare they need, the OxFest Music Festival is expected to add thousands of dollars to the causes.

Held this year on the Washington Fairgrounds in Washington, MO on Saturday, September 20th, gates open at 11:30am. Music begins at 12pm.

OxFest benefits the following charitable organizations: Duane Haddox Scholarship, Whole Kids Outreach, All Abilities Athletics, CASA of Mideast Missouri, The Covering House, One Classroom, and the WINGS Educational Foundation.

How It Began

“OxFest” started as an annual barbecue organized by Dave Haddox and Kevin Walde in 2014 to memorialize the lives of Dave’s brothers Doug and Duane Haddox.  Doug, the oldest, and Duane the middle brother, died prematurely from complications of diabetes,  in 2013 and 2010 respectively.

At the end of  each  barbecue, Dave and Kevin would sit around a fire and reminisce until the wee hours of the morning. They dreamed of turning “OxFest” into a benefit music festival, never thinking their campfire talk would turn into a reality. But after the 2016 barbecue, Dave took the “Ox” by the horns and decided to make it happen. OxFest Charities was born!
